Here is the latest News.
Things are happening at Redfern, with some projects almost completed and some new ones just kicking off.
The venue for our public meetings has been changed due to the Canterbury Bowling Club being closed. HET public meetings will now be conducted at Redfern. Meeting dates are unchanged so come along to Redfern, participate in our Public Meetings and have a look first hand at what we do. New members are always welcome.
Our Model Railway, Electric Car Sheds, was on show at the Clarendon and Castle Hill Exhibitions during July. Both shows were well attended and lots of interest was again shown in the layout. The layout and sales stand will be at the Sydney Model Railway Exhibition at Liverpool on the October long weekend, (October 5, 6, 7). Then the layout will be on show at the Bungendore Public School on October 19 & 20. Thanks go to Peter B and Graham for the new signalling system that has been installed on the layout, while Geoff, Ed and Alan have been working on motorizing the points in the fiddle yard at the rear.
Ed and Alan have been discussing plans for our next exhibition layout and two baseboards have been constructed to get an idea as to how it is going to look and how various new ideas will work.
Once again a big thank you to all the members who helped out at Clarendon and Castle Hill, your time and effort is greatly appreciated.
Meanwhile at Redfern, Michael has completed the internal clean of Wooden trailer car T4279, which celebrates its 100th year this year. Peter G is placing new timbers on the deck of the platform luggage trolley and soon a coat of paint should be applied.
Peter M and Alex have completed the new electrical lead for the U-Boat cars so we are now able to power up the interior lights and Michael has now started to clean the inside of these cars.
Peter G has laid the new lino floor in our shunting tractor, X101. Next job will be the fitting of some aluminium angle to protect the exposed ends of the lino.
Some pallet racking for the spare parts has been refurbished and pallets that were previously on the floor have now been loaded onto the racks.
That’s about it for now…..til next update
